Our Laser System

The laser system we use, Fotona Lightwalker II, is the latest iteration of laser technology used for facial aesthetics. It combines continuous and pulse lasers — Neodymium Yag (ND:YAG) and Erbium Yag (Er:YAG) — to resurface and tighten skin, remove age spots, stimulate collagen production, improve scars, improve the airway (in sleep apnea cases), and more.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing improves skin smoothness and tightness while diminishing facial blemishes and signs of aging. Our skin resurfacing treatments are a non-invasive way to:

• Tighten skin and diminish wrinkles around your eyes (SmoothEye treatment)
• Increase volume in your lips (LipLase treatment)
• Remove skin lesions

When working with the surface of the skin, we use the Er:YAG laser. Depending on the treatment indicated, this type of laser is either used ablatively — to gently remove the upper layer of skin — or non-ablatively, using thermal stimulation to promote collagen tightness and growth. Due to their precision, Er:YAG lasers affect surrounding tissue only minimally, giving you a shorter recovery time and fewer side effects.

Deeper Skin Treatments

For conditions that reside more deeply within the skin, we use the ND:YAG laser, which operates at a longer wavelength to treat areas below the surface using thermal energy. This type of laser is ideal for:

Our Process

We will first review your medical history to ensure that you are a good candidate for laser skin treatment. At the beginning of your procedure, Dr. Cha will numb the affected area. Laser skin treatments for smaller areas usually last between 30 and 45 minutes. Treating larger areas will take longer, up to 2 hours for your full face. After your procedure, Dr. Cha will bandage the affected area and give you instructions regarding skin cleaning, cold compress application, and sun protection.

Your recovery time will last from 1-3 weeks, during which time you will experience some swelling. Itching and stinging are also common during the first few days following treatment. After 5-7 days, you will also experience skin dryness and peeling.
