Porcelain Restorations (Veneers, Crowns, etc.)
Dental porcelains come in many different specifications and uses. Depending on how the teeth will function and one’s aesthetic goals, selecting the right combination of porcelain and working with highly trained ceramists, technicians, and clinicians are vitally important for achieving the ultimate restorations that combine beauty and longevity.
The Way Porcelain Teeth are Made to Mimic Nature
A missing front tooth is restored with a dental implant followed by a porcelain crown.
- A tooth is hand-carved, either from wax or using a digital printer.
- Base opacity porcelain is replicated from the initial design.
- Layers of tints and porcelains are baked to mimic nature.
- Final glaze and surface textures are added and polished.
Composite Bondings
Composite bondings are usually a very conservative way to enhance overall appearance or restore broken teeth. Composite bonding usually requires minimal tooth preparation (“grinding”) or — in most cases — no preparation, thus preserving the maximal integrity of the tooth structure. Composite bondings typically require several types of composites to create natural effects directly onto the tooth and can be completed in a single appointment.
